I would give several synonyms for this very word - an embodiment of love, a selfless soul, ever caring, adorable, patient and a role model for all ladies. If there could be a 6th Uthama Sthree in the world, it could be her.
She is the eldest daughter in-law to Sri. D.S.Iyengar and has served not only to her own in-laws but also to D.S's brothers and their wives. Ofcourse in later days the other daughter inlaws also served them.

She was a daughter of a diamond merchant (if I am not wrong), but never had she expressed it herself. Neither she had bragged about her birthplace. I haven't seen / heard her visiting her parent's house, brother / sister's house for a vacation. She took pride in saying that she is the daugher inlaw of Sri. D.S.Iyengar. She has devoted all her very life to the wellness of the members of the D.S family. She gave equal treatments to her own / brother-inlaws / sis-inlaws children. She even carried it to the grand children.
She had been a motherly character for her brother inlaws (my thatha and kuppu chittappa) and they have respected her in the same way too. I am happy that kuppu chittappa, and my uncles could spend time with her in her last momemts. I think the D.S Family is quite fortunate to have such people for we now have Kuppu chittappa and Mythili manni doing God-parents role for my dad and uncles.
She was the queen of the Mela veedhi house, but never she carried arrogance for it. She would serve lunch /snack/ dinner for the guests whatever time they drop in. I still remember her making Oma Rasam for Krishna Anna (her younger Co-sister's late sister's Grand son) just because he loves it, when he visited us from the Annamalai University hostel .
If I, a brother inlaw's grand daughter could write all these, its because of the love and affection that she showered on all of us. She has done so much to all of us through her mere body, money, love and care. But if there is now a way to repay her debts, its only by praising her glory and keep her in our prayers for the liberation of her soul.
